The Wonderful World Of Asian Noodles

Just because you can tell the differences between soba and hokkien noodle doesn't get you a medal anymore; so get out of the square, experiment with and try the hundreds of other Asian noodles out there. Going to the noodle section of an Asian grocer for the first time can be quite a daunting experience, you are confronted with about 20 types of rice noodles to start with, another 30 types of wheat noodles, 40 types of egg noodles and countless other noodles made from strange ingredients like mung beans and sweet potato; and you haven't even seen the cold storage section yet.
The joy of finding out what you like, which type of noodle goes with what sauce is priceless. I've compiled a list of noodles that I have used for recipes in this blog. Do try them and find out which one you really like because it's one thing to like soba and hokkien noodle, it's another not to know what you have been missing.
P.S this page will be regularly upgraded when new type of noodles and recipes are added.

I'm not too sure how useful part one was for anyone, but being able to get the following products might take you one step closer to cooking wholesome Korean food at home. I was at the Korean shop today and the good news is he was not blinded by unhappy shoppers smearing hot chili paste into his eyes yet.
For more korean products click here .
P.S most korean products are interchangeable with Japanese ones and only half the price, so another reason to get to know what is what!!

The Korean Torture Part 1

Trying to buy Korean food products has to be one of life's greatest tortures, if you are,
  1. Not going along with a Korean friend or two
  2. Not smart enough to put the squares and circles together to know what's written on the packaging
  3. Not being served by someone that can speak English
I imagine you'll be ticking all the above most of the time, if not all the time. And as a victim of this very cruel form of torture from the Far East myself, I've photographed a list of basic Korean ingredients with english translations to help you avoid, or at least limit further pain. I'll be presenting The Korean torture part 2 soon. :) Do let me know if this is of any help at all. And if it still doesn't work , look for the tub of chili paste yourself and rub it into the server's eyes and run out as fast as you can :)
